Wages

In order to retain quality teachers, you have to reward them. The WAGE$ program does just that through salary supplements. Learn more about it and if you’re eligible.

Supplementary Wages

Staff retention is an important part of any quality early education program. Young children who have stable relationships with their teachers and caregivers greatly benefit. The Child Care WAGE$ FLORIDA Project aims to minimize turnover and encourage early childhood teachers to continue their education by offering education-based salary supplements to them.

To be eligible for at least one six-month supplement payment during the fiscal year, applicants must:

  • Work in a county that funds the Child Care WAGE$® FLORIDA Project
  • Work in a licensed or licensed exempt early care and education program or center
  • Earn less than $17.50 per hour as a childcare practitioner (teacher or assistant)
  • Have the required education level
  • Work at least six months in the same eligible early care and education program
  • Be employed at this same program at the time of employment confirmation
