Advocate

Champion the cause for early education by becoming an advocate for children. You’ll be spreading hope and creating opportunities for tomorrow’s generation. United Way supports federal and state legislation, policies and investments that promote early learning and support for young children and their families.

The Business Leaders Network does its part by meeting with legislators and telling them quality early education is a business priority. This past year, United Way leaders traveled to Tallahassee to advocate on behalf of the T.E.A.C.H. Program which increases the capacity of the early childhood workforce by creating incentives for professional development.  While many state programs suffered significant cuts during the ’08 legislative session, the T.E.A.C.H. program received its entire $3 million budget request.  This is just one example how business leaders and organizations can get involved. By spreading the word, by contacting your elected leaders, anyone can inspire change.
